Once Albert Einstein‟s teacher said to his father, “It doesn‟t matter what he does, he will never amount to anything.” But in time he became the foremost mind of the twentieth century and he was able to unlock the secrets of the universe. You don‟t have to wear the labels that people give you. Sometimes your parents may have told you words like „below average‟, „not talented‟ or „failure‟. But do not worry. You do not have to dwell on those labels or wear them.
You can do great things in life. When you work hard, study day and night, people may call you „nerd‟, „bookworm‟ or anything else. But keep going forward and some years later the same people will call you „boss‟. Think of your future. You have almost finished 20 years of your life. There are some 40 or 50 years left. What you think about yourselves now in your mind, determines who you are going to be in the future. So be very careful about what you think.
Always think positively. Speak positive words because Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. When someone says you are a failure, say deep in your heart, “No, I‟m not a failure. I will do great things. I‟m not going to believe what my friends have told about me.” No one can make you feel inferior without your permission. Sometimes they might call you „fat‟, „black‟, „short‟, „ugly‟, „good for nothing‟. They see your outward appearance. They cannot see the great potential in you. Only you can!
You are one of the great people who are going to challenge this world in the future. Believe me, you are not what people call you. You are what you answer to! People may remind you of all the mistakes you have done. But do not listen to them. Those days are gone. Nothing can be done on the past. Past is past. But you can do something in the present for your future. Dwelling on the past can never make you go forward. Think what good things you can do from now on. The famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright designed many beautiful buildings, homes, and other magnificent structures. Toward the end of his career, a reporter asked him, “Of your many beautiful designs, which one is your favorite?” Without missing a beat Frank answered, “My next one”. He knew he could do even better the next time. Say in your mind, “I will study, I will work hard. There is nothing in this world that I cannot achieve”.
Most of the time the reason why people say hurtful, critical things about you is simply because they are jealous of you. They want to push you down so that they will look bigger. People cannot determine your destiny, only you can. God has already prepared a good future for you. You are unique and valuable. You have seeds of greatness on the inside of you. Don‟t get depressed, defeated or upset. Believe that God knows your desire. He can take you to heights that you have never dreamt off.
Keep company with positive and encouraging friends. Share your dreams with those people who will appreciate you. If you‟ll keep pressing, hoping, believing not only will you rise higher, but also you‟ll see things begin to change in your favour. If only you could detach the wrong labels people have stuck on you, then you will be able to become the most successful person in life
